welcome to mae main menu practice projects research contact introduction creativity-led. community-led. drawing on the dna of the neighbourhood, we create welcoming places for people. we design policy as well as buildings. inspired by our founder’s work at cabe, our thinking advances best practice. we relish complexity. with carefully crafted architecture, we turn challenging sites into buildings with a distinct identity. close close close mae news brentford lock west block e features twice on british homes awards 2018 shortlist​ practice news we're pleased that our brentford lock west block e project features twice in the sunday times british homes awards 2018 shortlist . block e provides 42 high-quality homes within a set of pavilion buildings to create a vibrant canal-side residential community with shared streets, promoting local interaction and encouraging walking and cycling. results will be announced at an awards ceremony on the 20th of september 2018. july 2018 read more sands end arts and community centre wins a new london award project update we’re absolutely delighted that our sands end arts and community centre has won at the new london awards 2018 . our win is recognised in the unbuilt section of the culture & community category at the awards which seeks to champion the best examples of civic projects for local residents and international visitors. we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our collaborators on this project, especially to the local community in hammersmith & fulham, of whom our centre will primarily serve. july 2018 view project mæ's cambridge to oxford corridor ideas feature in transport systems catapult​ exhibition project update we will be attending a symposium for an exhibition of ideas for the future of the cambridge – oxford growth corridor at the transport systems catapult this month. ideas were developed in response to a national competition run by the national infrastructure commission. we worked alongside one works , akt ii , max fordham and planit-ie on our proposals, which integrates placemaking and infrastructure to develop a city campus model that can house 250,000 people in 12 clusters, within a range of densities along the corridor. the exhibition shares our big idea, alongside others shortlisted, and will be open to all from the 5th of july. july 2018 read more brentford lock west block e wins at the riba london regional awards 2018 project update brentford lock west block e scheme has won a riba london regional award 2018 . drawing inspiration from the local environment, our ambition was to create a vibrant canal-side residential community. we designed pavilion buildings with distinct saw-tooth roof forms that enhance the skyline and bring light into the upper floors. deep façades create versatile outdoor loggias and homes have landscaped courtyards that act as a threshold to the street. our scheme forms part of the second phase of a three phase development project beside the grand union canal, which has been awarded a customer satisfaction gold award . read more about our project here . may 2018 view all riba winners croydon smaller sites programme wins a housing design award project update we're really happy to be part of the winning team at the housing design awards 2018. our win is a great combined effort from all collaborators on the croydon smaller sites programme including mikhail riches , coffey architects , pitman tozer architects , stitch and vppr architects , alongside facilitators brick by brick development and common ground architecture . the croydon smaller sites programme features our kingsdown avenue project (pictured) which draws on neighbouring typologies to create a scheme with a modest character, carved into the grassy hillside. july 2018 view all winners here down by the riverbank -
